Why Track Your Medichecks Results Long-Term

Medichecks customers tend to test repeatedly. You order a thyroid panel six months after the last one, re-check ferritin once iron supplements have had time to work, or book a broader hormone bundle each year. Each result, viewed in isolation in your portal, is just a snapshot. The story you actually want, whether your numbers are improving, holding steady or drifting, only becomes visible when results sit on the same chart over time.

That long-term view is where consumer lab portals fall short. They show you one report at a time, rarely overlaying past results, and almost never combining results across panels purchased months apart. Health3 was built to solve that. Once your Medichecks PDFs are inside the app, every biomarker becomes a time series with the lab's reference range overlaid, and any second result for the same marker plots automatically on the same chart, regardless of which Medichecks bundle it came from.

Tracking trends matters because reference ranges are wide. A TSH of 2.5 mIU/L is technically inside the lab's normal range, but if your previous two readings were both below 1.5, the upward drift is the interesting signal. How to Download Your PDF from the Medichecks Portal

Before you can import anything into Health3, you need the Medichecks PDF on your phone. Medichecks results are released through your online account once the lab has finished analysing the sample, usually within a few working days of receipt. You will normally receive an email saying your results are ready.

1. Sign in to your Medichecks account on your phone or laptop.
2. Open the test you want to import. Each test is listed separately, so a hormone bundle and a separate iron test will appear as two distinct results.
3. Look for the option to download the PDF report. Medichecks typically offers a downloadable version of each completed test through the result page.
4. Save the PDF to your device, your cloud drive, or send it to yourself by email so it is reachable from your phone.

The downloadable PDF is the artefact you want for archiving, because it includes the printed reference ranges and doctor's comments that the lab issued. Health3 reads that PDF directly, so there is no need to re-type values.

How Health3 Reads Your Medichecks PDF

Inside Health3 you tap import, choose PDF, and select your Medichecks file. The app sends the document through Health3's OCR engine, which reads layout and tabular structure the way a human would and reconciles that with the underlying text. This catches edge cases like values printed slightly outside the column or unusual unit notations, and the parser handles lab reports in 25 languages.

What gets extracted: the test name, the numeric result, the unit, the reference range, the sample date, and any sex or age-adjusted reference comment Medichecks prints next to the value. Multi-page PDFs are supported up to 100 MB, which comfortably covers the broader Medichecks bundles that run to several pages.

Because Health3's library covers 180 biomarkers, common Medichecks markers like total testosterone, free testosterone, SHBG, TSH, free T3, free T4, ferritin, vitamin D, HbA1c, lipid panel components and full blood count parameters all map cleanly onto Health3's tracking system. Anything unusual still appears on your test record, just without a pre-built reference set.

What Happens After Upload

Once the OCR pass finishes, Health3 shows you a parsed list of every biomarker it detected, along with values and ranges. You confirm or correct anything you want to adjust before saving. From that moment on, the test sits in your Health3 timeline, and every individual biomarker becomes part of a long-term trend.

The most useful screens after a Medichecks import are the trend view and the test comparison view. The trend view plots a single biomarker over every test you have uploaded, with the lab's reference range as a shaded band. A previous Medichecks result, an NHS result and an Apple Health clinical record for the same marker all land on one chart. The test comparison view sits two complete tests side by side, helpful when reading a follow-up bundle against a baseline ordered six months ago.

Health3's insights engine produces a summary of meaningful change between tests, highlighting movement that is biologically interesting rather than just listing every value. You can then export the full record as a PDF to bring to a GP appointment or share with a private clinician.

Privacy, Storage and Your Data

Health3 is built around the principle that your lab data is yours. Account creation supports email and password, Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, and your test history is associated with that account. Health3 is GDPR-compliant and operates from the European Union. Health3 does not currently make HIPAA claims because it is not marketed as a covered health service in the United States.

If you need to share specific results, the PDF export is the cleanest option. It produces a one-off document you can hand to a clinician, partner or carer without giving them ongoing access to your account. You stay in control of what is shared and when.

Limitations and Edge Cases

A handful of practical points worth knowing before you start importing Medichecks results.

• No direct API integration. Health3 does not connect to your Medichecks account programmatically. You download the PDF and upload it. This is a deliberate design choice that keeps Medichecks as the system of record for the original report and keeps you in control of which results enter Health3.
• Password-protected PDFs. If your downloaded PDF is encrypted, save an unprotected copy first. Health3 cannot decrypt protected files because that would require holding your password.
• Scanned screenshots. Where possible upload the original Medichecks PDF rather than a screenshot or photograph. The PDF includes embedded text, which makes OCR more robust.
• Catalog changes. Medichecks updates its test catalogue regularly. Bundle names, included markers and pricing change, so a panel you ordered last year may differ from today's equivalent. Health3 keys off the markers in your PDF, not the bundle name, so historical imports continue to work even when bundles are renamed.
• Reference range drift. Reference ranges occasionally change between lab analysers or over time. Health3 stores the range printed on each individual report, so older results retain their original context.
